Linda Peters - Business Development | ESRI
Linda Peters has over 25 years of experience working in the geospatial industry. Working for Esri for 18+ years, Linda has consulted with companies across industries helping them achieve greater efficiencies by leveraging GIS and spatial analysis. Linda today works with National Statistical offices across the globe, helping them understand how to apply geographic methods and GIS to census and statistical activities.
Linda is a member of the UN GGIM Expert Group on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information, as well as Big Data working groups, and has consulted with other expert groups. Ms. Peters is currently a board member of Applied Geography and past President of the Business Geography Specialty Group. In 2014, Linda authored Esri’s MOOC “The Location Advantage”, designed to teach students how to apply geospatial technology to business. Most recently, Ms. Peters co-authored the book “GIS and the 2020 Census: Modernizing Official Statistics”. |
Dr. Jay Lee - Professor | Department of Geography | Kent State University
Jay Lee started attending the annual Applied Geography Conferences in 1992. He organized this conference series from 2008 to 2019. In his tenure as the conference executive director, Jay Lee also edited the annual volume of the Proceedings and Papers of Applied Geography Conferences, which he converted to the conference journal, Papers in Applied Geography in 2015. In its 7th volume and served as the editor-in-chief of the journal. Papers in Applied Geography publishes academic and business works that address and solve practical problems our society faces. All manuscripts submitted to the conference journal go through a double-blind peer review process.

Dr. Murray Rice- Professor | Department of Geography and the Environment | University of North Texas
Dr. Murray Rice is an educator and researcher in the field of location intelligence. He specializes in research related to connections between business strategy, entrepreneurship, and urban change, and in teaching on topics that link geography, businesses, and cities.
Dr. Rice has published 36 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written numerous book chapters and editorials. He has also provided consulting services to business, government, and non-profit organizations focused on the application of geoanalytics to a wide range of problems. Dr. Rice has also contributed to the discipline of geography more broadly by serving as executive director for the Applied Geography Conference (now AGX), chair of the AAG Business Geography Specialty Group, and chair of the Southwest Division of the AAG. He is currently executive director emeritus of AGX and professor and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. |
In memory of our 2022 Executive Director Dr. Harrison Campbell - Professor | Department of Geography and Earth Science | UNC-Charlotte

Dr. Harrison (Harry) Campbell was a Professor and Economic Geographer in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at UNC-Charlotte. Primarily focused on the U.S., his published journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports analyze the patterns and implications of business location, regional job growth, and patterns of interregional income transmission. He has worked with colleagues and clients in settings both urban and rural conducting economic impact assessments, program evaluations, and industry cluster studies to inform local economic development policy. Most recently, his work has addressed economic growth, amenities, income inequality and their relationship to cost of living in U.S. metro areas. A long-time participant in the Applied Geography Conference, Harry became Executive Director of AGX in January, 2022. Harry passed away on October 8, 2022.
