Attending the Conference
AGX – A Community of Applied Geographers is committed to creating an event that builds community and fosters interaction and collaboration among conference participants. We encourage conference attendees to participate as fully as possible in the conference, attending as many sessions as possible, being available for follow-up conversations after presenting, and sharing with and learning from one another.
AGX strives to make our conferences as affordable as possible to attract, and enable attendance for, as many in the applied geography community as possible, whether students, faculty, or public and private sector professionals. Please contact AGX officers and conference planners if you would like to attend but are concerned about the cost of registration.

1. Paper Presentation
- If part of a prearranged organized session, please provide the exact title of the session and the full name of the session organizer(s).
- Session organizers: You are responsible for coordinating with all prospective presenters for your proposed session. Instruct all presenters to include the session title and your name (as the organizer) when they complete their individual abstract submission forms.
- Poster dimensions: width, 48 inches; height, 36 inches.
- Use a light-colored background with dark letters
- Be succinct – What are your main points? What is the most important message related to each of your learning objectives?
- Use pictures and graphs instead of text in paragraphs when possible
- Use borders, colored headings, and/or “white space” to visually divide sections

1. You must bring your own laptop/tablet (and an adapter if you do not have HDMI or VGA ports). Session organizers and participants: we encourage connecting with each other and coordinating laptop/tablet logistics in advance of the conference.
2. Participants will learn a great deal at this conference in a short amount of time, so handouts are a helpful way for individuals to reflect on what they have learned. We suggest you bring copies of your handouts to the conference presentation or upload your handouts to your session listing. If interested in sharing your presentation, more information on how to upload and share will be available at the conference.
